Fiat's Italian Neighbor Series on Funny or Die

Fiat Funny or Die

Fiat’s known for commercials that are humorous and outside the box of what you’d normally expect from a car company. From the recent Godzilla movie Fiat ad to last year’s “The Italians are Coming” ad you probably saw on TV, the commercials tend to reflect the offbeat, irreverent fun that Fiat vehicles themselves tend to represent for people. Perhaps nowhere is this connection more strongly drawn than on Fiat’s Funny or Die channel. The current season is called “Neighbors” and we’ll tell you all about it (complete with video!)
As you can see from the top video, the premise is that a couple of rather cookie-cutter, white-bread Americans are getting new neighbors, and they’re very… Italian. Unloading boxes from their Fiat and looking impossibly stylish, they’re an immediate affront to the more down-home appearance and lifestyle of the neighbors. At least, until Frank, the husband, decides to throw caution to the wind and go join them! His wife’s not really having it, and foresees a lot of trouble to come with these new neighbors. And in fact, her fear comes true when Frank goes over for coffee shortly thereafter:
It’s clear that the new neighbors are having an effect on poor Frank, who apparently doesn’t know much about the difference between espresso and regular coffee. How about when the couple goes over and makes the mistake of using the term “When in Rome” to talk about adapting to the neighbors’ customs? See where that lands them:
You guessed it! What other types of cultural adventures will these folks have thanks to their new neighbors? There are more from this series on the Funny or Die Fiat channel which we highly encourage you to go over and check out.
