Every year, millions and millions of people tune in to watch the Superbowl. This year was no exception. The market for advertising space during the game has become very competitive with 30 second spots costing companies over $4 million. USA Today makes a tally of the results from the advertisements and reports them as Ad Meter Results to see which companies made the biggest impact with their commercial. Read on to see why the funny Fiat 500X Superbowl 2015 commercial took first place out of all the automakers.

The annual Ad Meter Results show that the “Fiat 500X Blue Pill” took 3rd place overall and took 1st place out of all the automaker advertisements. USA TODAY looks at the amount of web traffic generated by the ad and how many mentions were made using social media. As a result of the commercial, the Fiat USA website saw an increase in traffic by 327% and social media has generated almost 50,000 mentions (most of which are directly related to the Superbowl ad).

The advertisement was first seen as a longer length video shown at the October 2014 Paris Motor Show during the Fiat global reveal of the all-new 500X. Since it was so popular and spread so quickly from there, it was not a difficult decision to play it during the 2015 Superbowl to get some excitement going for the Fiat 500x’s release in 2015.

Many of us are very excited to see what the 500X has in store for the world of crossovers. The advertisement at the Superbowl only increased our anticipation. This unique and stylish little crossover is sure to make a big splash in the automotive industry with its predicted highway fuel rating of over 30 mpg.
