Our List of Fun Games to Play with Kids in the Car During Long Trips

Are you looking forward to summer road trips but dreading the kids being stuck in the back seat of a car for hours without entertainment? The shouting and poking and questions about when you’ll arrive will surely drive you insane. There is one potential solution, games! Here is our list of fun games to play with kids in the car during long trips.

The best way to pass time between naps on road trips is by playing games. We have put together this list of fun activities to play with your kids when they need entertainment in the car:

  1. I Spy. This is perfect game because each round is short and as long as there are new things to spy, there are more games to be played! The first person spies something in the car and says “I spy with my little eye, something (insert clue here).” The other players must guess what the person spied using the clue.

  2. Bingo. We all know the rules for bingo. Your goal is to get a row or column and yell bingo. In car bingo, your board is filled with things that you have to find while on the trip. Ex: A blue pickup truck. When you see an item from your board, you cross it off and do this until someone gets a row or a column!

  3. Im Going on a Picnic. This game works best for slightly older kids because it involves the alphabet and memory. The first person starts with the letter A and says “I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing APPLES.” The next person would then say “Im going on a picnic and I am bringing APPLES and BANANAS.” This goes on through the whole alphabet with the last person saying everything that the previous people brought along. It can be tricky!

  4. 20 Questions. This game is a classic and can be played with anyone. One person thinks of a person, place, or thing and the people guessing get 20 questions that can be answered with a yes or no. You can only guess once after each question, and if you run out of questions and still haven’t guessed it, you lose! A classic that never gets old.
