Things to do this summer in Kenosha

Summer is a great time in Wisconsin to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, fresh air and warm lake waters. After a long, cold, dark winter, this summer was especially welcomed by Kenosha residents who spent the majority of their time inside under a blanket. Now, it’s time to get out there and have some fun.

If you’re looking for things to do this summer in Kenosha, you’re in luck because we came up with a complete list of fun summer activities.

Check out some dinosaurs

The Dinosaur Discovery Museum, located at 5608 Tenth Ave., is a great place to spend a rainy or overly hot afternoon. The museum features multiple exhibits on the links between modern birds and the carnivorous dinosaurs of the past. Also at the museum are fun, kid-friendly activities such as dino-digs

Travel on the Pike Bike Trail

If you’re looking for something active to do with your family, consider taking a ride on the Pike Bike Trail. It’s a 10.2 mile bike trail through Kenosha County and passes through certain landmarks such as the National Register Historical Districts, Lake Michigan and a ton of scenic lighthouses.

Shop locally

While there a ton of local boutiques and shops throughout downtown Kenosha, one of our favorite ways to spend the day during summer is rummaging through the Wilmot Mountain Flea Market. There are a ton of vendors selling everything from handmade trinkets to antiques and produce. The Flea Market is located at 11931 Fox River Road and is open April through November.

Take a walk down memory lane

Visit Kenosha’s History Center at 220 51st place and see the Kenosha of yesteryear. The museum features exhibits from the settling and establishment of Kenosha to modern-day Kenosha through a series of photos, artifacts and real-life accounts.

Cruise downtown

We saved this one for last because it’s one of our favorites. At the end of every summer, Kenosha residents and surrounding areas bring their favorite classic cars to the city to show off for all to see.

The 11th annual Downtown Kenosha Classic Cruise-In is free and open to all makes and models of vehicles and motorcycles. There will also be pizza, brats and hotdog, live music and more. The entrance to the event is at 56th Street and Seventh Avenue.
