The 500X is a two-box compact SUV with classic styling. Even by bite-size SUV standards, its neat exterior dimensions imply a small inside. At the very least, what is there is well-organized, and the standard 7.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment has excellent software, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. 

The 1.3-liter turbo-4 engine has a smaller displacement but plenty of power under the hood. The 9-speed automatic transmission has an on-again, off-again connection with it, even though basic all-wheel drive is an uncommon in this market. On the interstate, it gets up to 30 mpg, which is good for the class.
